1. Competitors can not be over the age of 22. 2. Audience voting will decide the winners of each caption (Prizes for winners are of the Percussion nature, stick bags, sticks, mallets, etc.). 3. All instruments used must fit under the definition of percussion or be legally utilized in Winter Percussion Competition (Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Synthesizer ok). 5. Captions
*Solo's*
Solo captions include solo snare, solo tenor, solo mallet (marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, bells), solo drum set and "Mixed" Percussion solo.
The "Mixed" Percussion solo is inclusive of anything not specified in a caption above. For example, a dual Hi-hat Solo or something along those lines. This is open for creativity. *Duets*
Duets will be voted on as "Favorite Duet." This caption will include anything you want to put together. Drum and bass, Dual Drum Sets, Drum set and a mallet instrument, etc. This is open for creativity. *Ensembles*
Ensemble captions include Bass Drum Ensemble, Concert Percussion Ensemble (Drum Set is ok), Battery Ensemble and "Mixed" Percussion Ensemble.
Concert Percussion Ensembles are defined as: any ensemble with melodic content from Mallet Instruments (Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, etc) that include more than 2 performers. This ensemble may utilize instruments out of their element for effect purposes only. For example, a "Concert" Percussion Ensemble should not have a full battery but may use a battery instrument for effect (Field Drum or something along those lines). Use of Drum Set is allowed.
Mixed Percussion Ensembles are defined as: any ensemble combining Percussion instruments from different family's that include more than 2 performers. For example, Drum Set & Snare Drums, Hi-hats & Tenor Drum, etc. This is open to whatever crazy creative thought comes to mind. This ensemble may NOT utilize any melodic content from Mallet Instruments (Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, etc).
Bass Drum Ensembles are defined as: any ensemble utilizing primarily Bass Drums for the entirety of the piece. This ensemble may utilize instruments out of their element for effect purposes only. For example, you may have one bas drum start out your piece while rainsticks and hi-hats are used to create a mood. At no time may the scoring of your piece not have Bass Drums.
Battery Ensembles are defined as: any ensemble utilizing primarily instruments from the Battery Percussion that is not a solo Snare or Tenor. This ensemble may utilize instruments out of their element for effect purposes only. For example, you may start off with your battery playing a simple grove while you have hi-hats and cymbals being played for impact and effect. This ensemble may NOT utilize any melodic content from Mallet Instruments (Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, etc). At no time may the scoring of your piece not have a Battery Voice.
*Scores for music are not required. If you would like the eNVision staff to look over them for your solo or ensemble, just let us know and we would be more than happy to do this.
